[This paper was submitted to the OKC city council in opposition to a bill being aggressively pushed by the Gay rights activists of Oklahoma to make hiring and housing discrimination against gays illegal.  The Gays were assisted in their efforts by the American Civil Liberties Union, and by gays from outside the state.]

The modern Gay Movement claims that homosexuals and lesbians are attracted to their own sex because they were born with that particular sexual orientation.  Therefore, say they, homosexuals deserve protection from discrimination.

Two important questions immediately arise which must be given the most careful consideration: (1) Is it true that homosexuals are born that way? and(2) Should homosexuals be protected from discrimination?
 

Why This Issue Is Important

In Oklahoma any act of sodomy is a felony.  The proposed ammendment therefore directly contradicts long standing state law.  Our forefathers made sodomy a felony with severe penalties because they considered it an abominable crime against nature.  Also, sodomy (implying, among other things, anal inter-course) is extremely unclean and promotes the spread of disease, as is being demonstrated now by the epidemic of AIDS.  AIDS, which began among homosexuals and drug addicts, has now spread to the heterosexual community via bisexuals and blood transfusions, bringing certain death to all infected.  Thus,homosexuals are guilty of killing the innocent, as well as of committing suicide.  They are on purpose engaging in illegal activities which they know are spreading a fatal plague.  Giving homosexuals protection from discrimination is equivalent to giving rapists, murderers, robbers and other criminals protection from discrimination.  By openly confessing that they are homosexuals, gays are confessing that they are guilty of criminal activity.  They should therefore be immediately prosecuted and jailed, not given special rights.  The changes in the law they are proposing are equivilent to saying that a felon cannot be treated as one should treat a felon.  Several of the homosexuals on the AD HOC COMMITTEE claim that they are "sexually oriented" toward their own sex but not sexually active.  But if that be true then why are they being discriminated against?  How does anyone even know that they are homosexuals?  And why do they need special protection?  Gays only get bashed when that try to seduce someone, or someone's loved one, or publicly engage in their unlawful activity with each other.  If they would resist their urge to sin instead of flaunting it they would not offend other people, and other people would leave them alone.  No, it is not protection of their orientation that they want, but protection of their criminal activity. They want to be able to be protected so that they can seduce our children and other loved ones without punishment.

But something even more serious is also at stake here.  Is there a God who has moral authority over men?  Are the laws of Oklahoma City going to based on theism or atheism?  Are we going to let God determine right and wrong for us, or are we going to let fallible men (in this case men who have publicly, though inadvertently, confessed to criminal activity) write laws for us?  For not only is homosexual activity against the laws of our land, it is also against the laws of God upon which the laws of our land are based.  God considers sodomy so abominable that he made it a capital offense.  Consider forinstance the following verses:
 

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.   Nei ther shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.   Defile not ye yourselves in  any of these things:  for in all these  the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: and the land is defiled: therefore I  do visit the  iniquity thereof  upon it,  and the  land itself  vomiteth out her inhabitants.  Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: (for all these abominations have the  men of the land done, which were before  you, and the land is defiled;) that  the land spue not you out  also, when ye defile it,  as it spued out the  nations that were before you.  For whosoever shall commit any of these  abominations, even the souls  that commit them  shall be cut  off from among  their people. Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance,  that ye commit not any one  of these abominable customs, which were committed  before you, and that ye  defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God. (Lev 18.22-30)
 
If a man also lie with mankind, as  he lieth with a woman, both of them  have committed an  abomination: they  shall surely  be put  to death;  their blood shall be upon them.  And if a  man take a wife and her mother, it  is wicked- ness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wick- edness among you.  And if a man  lie with a beast, he shall surely be  put to death: and ye shall slay the beast.  And if a woman approach unto any  beast, and lie down thereto,  thou shalt kill the  woman, and the beast:  they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. (Lev 20.13-16)

The History of Homosexuality

The history of homosexuality is a story of violence, wickedness and deceit.  Homosexuals have never respected other peoples' rights, but have tried to force their filthy way of life upon others.  The natural they replace with the queer.  Love they replace with lust.  And since they cannot reproduce by childbirth, they seek to multiply themselves by seducing other peoples' children.  Quoted below is the first historical record of homosexuality.
 
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly....And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom andGomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according  to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know....And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of  Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; and he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. And he pressed upon  them greatly; and they  turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.  But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the  house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: and they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee  this night? bring them out  unto us, that we may  know them.  And Lot went out at the  door unto them, and shut the door after  him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let  me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and  do ye to them as is good in your eyes:  only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. And they  said, Stand back. And they said again, This  one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them.  And they pressed sore upon  the man, even Lot,  and came near to  break the door. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them,  and shut to the door.  And they smote the men that were at the door of the  house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.  And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city,  bring them out of this place:  For  we will destroy this place, because the  cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. And Lot went out, and  spake unto his sons in law, which  married his daughters, and  said, Up, get  you out of  this place; for  the LORD will destroy this city.  But he seemed  as one that  mocked unto his  sons in law. And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of  the city.   And  while he  lingered, the  men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two  daughters; the LORD being  merciful unto him:  and they brought  him forth, and  set him without the  city.   And it  came to  pass, when  they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the  plain; escape to the  mountain, lest thou be  consumed.  And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so,  my Lord: behold now, thy servant hath  found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast showed unto me in  saving my life;  and I cannot  escape to the  mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: Behold now,  this city is near to flee unto, and  it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and  my soul shall live.  And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee  concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.  Haste thee, escape thither; for  I cannot do any thing till thou  be come thither. Therefore the  name of the city  was called Zoar.   The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered  into Zoar.  Then the LORD rained  upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and  fire from the LORD out of  heaven; and he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of  the cities, and that which grew upon the  ground.  But his wife looked back  from behind him, and she became a pillar  of salt.  (Gen 13.3, 18.20-21 and  19.1- 26.

Homosexuals Are Often Violent People

  Note that the homosexuals of Sodom and Gomorrah were vicious people.  They were not content to leave others alone and just do what they do secretly in the privacy of their own homes.  Oh no.  Instead they took to the streets, just as the bitter, sad, "gays" are doing today.  Most likely even as you read these words you are thinking of some government official you are personally acquainted with who has been intimidated and/or threatened by gay rights activists.  An example of homosexual violence occurred Sunday evening September 19, 1993 in San Francisco, California.  Homosexual activists heard that the Hamilton Square Baptist was having a special speaker deliver a sermon concerning homosexuality.  Approximately a hundred homosexuals surrounded the church building and tried to prevent people from entering.  They blocked the doors,pushed and shoved anyone who attempted to enter, screamed expletives and obscenities in their ears, and even put their arms around one lady, lifting her off the ground and scratching her arms.  They removed the Christian flag from the flag pole and replaced it with the gay flag.  They threw eggs and rocks at people attempting to attend the church service.  They destroyed church property, and pounded on the doors so hard that the door frame was broken and the service had to be stopped.  When the homosexuals realized there were children in the building they shouted, "We want your children.  Give us your children."  Since this riot, the Hamilton Square Baptist Church has received numerous obscene and threatening telephone calls.  So much for homosexuals' respect for free speech and the rights of law abiding citizens.  What did the police do about all this?  Nothing.  They just watched.  The police made not one arrest.  You see, the city of San Francisco has passed laws protecting homosexuals' rights.  And when criminals have rights the righteous have none.  Don't be foolish enough to let such wickedness become law in Oklahoma City.
 

Homosexuals Have Rejected the True God

The homosexuals of Sodom and Gomorrah were religious, but their god was not the true and living God.  They did not believe in the personal, supernatural God who made the universe and man in six days from nothing.  Rather they were idol worshipers.  Instead of believing that God made them, they made gods---they were the creators!  Thinking they were the highest life form in the universe, they rejected God's laws and developed humanist ethics.

Humanists still hold to the same perverted ethics today.  Right is wrong, and wrong is right in their eyes.
 

 For the  wrath of  God is  revealed from  heaven against  all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold  the truth in unrighteousness; because  that which may be known of  God is manifest in them;  for God hath showed it  unto them.  For  the invisible things  of him from  the creation of  the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his  eternal power and Godhead; so that they  are without excuse: because that, when  they knew God, they glorified  him not as God,  neither were thankful; but  became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves  to  be  wise,  they  became  fools,  and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made  like to corruptible man, and to  birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.  Wherefore God also gave them  up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their  own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and  wor- shipped and served  the creature more  than the Creator,  who is blessed  for ever. Amen.  For this cause God  gave them up unto vile affections: for  even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in  their lust one toward  another; men with  men working that  which is unseemly,  and receiving in themselves that recompense of  their error which was meet.   And even as they  did not like  to retain God  in their knowledge,  God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, mali- ciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, back- biters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without nat- ural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same,  but have pleasure in them that do them.  (Rom 1.18-32)
 
In ancient  times, homosexuals  were called  sodomites and  dogs.   They sold themselves like whores.  God rejected them with their offerings.
 
 There shall be  no whore of  the daughters of  Israel, nor a  sodomite of the sons of Israel.  Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of  a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these  are abomination unto the LORD thy God.  (Deut 23.17-18)
 

  Homosexuality Spreads AIDS

 AIDS is God's judgement upon nations that disobey His word by allowing homosexuals to multiply in their land.
 
 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written  in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; then the LORD  will make thy plagues  wonderful, and the plagues  of thy seed, even great plagues, and  of long continuance, and sore  sicknesses, and of long continuance.   Moreover he will bring  upon thee all the  diseases of Egypt, which  thou wast  afraid of;  and they  shall cleave  unto thee.  Also every sickness, and every  plague, which is not  written in the book  of this law, them will  the LORD bring  upon thee, until  thou be destroyed.   And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for  multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.   (Deut 28.58-62)

  Righteous Rulers Oppose Homosexuals

 Evil rulers have sometimes allowed homosexuals to multiply, but righteous rulers have always been harsh on homosexuals and their perversions.  Wicked rulers pass unjust laws which protect evil people from justice so that they can abuse the righteous without fear of punishment.  But righteous rulers protect good people from evil people so that the good people can live and labor in the land without fear of harassment by sex perverts.  Any government official who condones and encourages homosexuals is helping to murder millions of people through the plague of AIDS.  The blood of the dead shall be upon their hands.  King Rehoboam was such a wicked ruler, and it made his country weak.  This weakness invited continual aggression by enemy nations.
 
 And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and  one years  old  when  he  began  to  reign,  and  he  reigned  seventeen years in Jerusalem,  the  city  which  the  LORD  did  choose out of all the tribes of Israel,  to  put  his  name  there.  And  his  mother's  name  was  Naamah an Ammonitess.  And Judah did evil in  the sight of the LORD, and they  provoked him to  jealousy with  their sins  which they  had committed,  above all that their fathers had done.   For they also  built them high places,  and images, and groves, on every high hill, and  under every green tree.  And there  were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the  LORD cast out before  the children of Israel.   And it came to pass in the fifth year  of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of  Egypt came up against Jerusalem: and he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures  of the king's house;  he even took away  all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made....And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days. (1 Kings 14.21-30)
 
 It took  the effort  of three  good kings  to undo  the evil  accomplished by Rehoboam's pro-homosexual policies.
 
 And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over  Judah. And forty and one  years reigned he in  Jerusalem. And his mother's  name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.  And Asa did that which was right in  the eyes of the LORD, as  did David his father.   And he took away the  sodomites out of the land, and  removed all the idols that  his fathers had made.   And also Maachah his mother,  even her he removed  from being queen, because  she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by  the brook Kidron.  But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.  (1 Kings 15.9-14)

Jehoshaphat was  thirty and  five years  old when  he began  to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was  Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.  And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father;  he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered  and burnt incense yet in  the high places.   And Jehoshaphat made peace  with the king of Israel.  Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might  that he  showed,  and  how  he  warred,  are  they  not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings  of Judah?  And  the remnant of the  sodomites, which remained in the days of  his father Asa, he took  out of the land.   (1 Kings 22.42-46)

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty  and one years in Jerusalem.  And his mother's name  was Jedidah, the daughter  of Adaiah of Boscath.  And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the  way of David his father,  and turned not aside to  the right hand or to the left....And  he brake down the houses of  the sodomites, that were by  the house of  the LORD, where  the women wove  hangings for the grove.  (2 Kings 22.1-23.7)
 

Note in the  above verses that  king Josiah did  that which was  "right in the sight of the Lord",  and "brake down the  houses" of the homosexuals.   Yet we have wicked rulers today who want to  pass laws forcing us to rent to  them so that they can have  anal intercourse right in  our own rental property.   They want to force us to hire them as employees so they can recruit flesh right  in our own workplaces.   They want to force schools to hire them  as teachers so they can teach our children the art  of sodomy right in the classroom.   Today they want to force us to allow them membership in private clubs and other public accomadations under the threat of  large fines; tomorrow they will try  to force their way into our churches.  If they succeed with this first step, they will want still more.   Soon churches will  be fined if they  deny homosexuals membership, or refuse to let them teach or hold a church office.  Also,  how  did  it  happen  that  only  homosexuals  and pro-homosexuals were appointed to the  AD HOC COMMITTEE?   Isn't that  in itself discrimination  again decent people?  Of course it is.   Did anyone on the AD HOC  COMMITTEE protest this injustice?   I  seriously doubt  it.   So much  for their concern for the rights of anyone but themselves.
 

 Homosexuals Choose To Be That Way

 It is true that homosexuals are born with a problem.  Ever since "the first man," Adam, partook of the forbidden fruit and fell from his exalted estate, humans have been born with a depraved nature.  We are all prone to sin.
 
 By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death  passed upon all men, for that all have sinned....For by one man's disobedience  many were made sinners.  (Rom 5.12-19)

"God hath made  man upright; but  they have sought  out many inventions"  (Ecc7.9).
 

God did  not make homosexuals.   Homosexuals have made themselves  that way by choice.  Then, having  tasted the "pleasures of sin," they  become enslaved to  the nastiest  of addictions,  defiling themselves  with each  others dung.  God made their senses to  be repulsed by the vile tastes and  smells ofhuman excrement.  But they have resisted God-given impulses, and have  learned to enjoy that which should make them vomit.
 
 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner,  giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set  forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.  Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile  the flesh, despise  dominion, and speak  evil of dignities.  (Jude 7-8) [Emphasis added].
 
A person is born  of a certain race,  a certain sex, a  certain nationality, a certain language, a certain family, and could not change these things even  if he so wanted.  None of these things is evil, harmful behavior.  Therefore,  to discriminate against a person for these  reasons is unfair and wrong.   But in spite of phony  scientific studies to  the contrary, homosexuals  are not born with any  different a  nature than  the rest  of us.   We  all are born with a depraved nature, but must learn to resist  it so as to live as civilized  men.  Any of us could become a serial rapist, or serial murderer, or  homosexual  if we yielded to the  selfish lusts of the  flesh.  But it  is wrong to yield  to such things, and severe penalties  assist people greatly in controlling  themselves.  If this were not true, then government would not be needed at all.
 

Homosexuals Don't Have To Stay That Way

 Not only are homosexuals not born that way, they don't have to stay that way.  They can be delivered from their addiction to perversion by putting their faith in Christ Jesus.  Homosexuals are headed for hell, but can be saved from such a horrible end by being born again, by allowing Jesus to wash their sins away in his pure, sinless blood.
 
 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with  mankind [that is, homosexuals], nor  thieves, nor covetous, nor  drunkards, nor revilers,  nor extortioners, shall  inherit the kingdom of God.  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are  justified in the name  of the Lord Jesus,  and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Cor 6.9-11) [Emphasis added]
 
"And such were some of you."  Some of the members of the church of Corinth had once been homosexuals, but had been washed clean.  They were now new creaturesin Christ.  Christ can deliver a person from the sin of homosexuality just  as easy as He can  deliver him from other sin.

Discrimination against wrong behavior is not discrimination against any  individuals as persons.  Crime (sin) hurts the criminal (sinner) as well as  hurting society.  By hating crime we love the people who are destroying themselves by it. We certainly  should not  hold a  repentant sinner's  past against  him in our churches.  Thieves, drug dealers, whores, homosexuals, rapists, murderers  and all other sinners should publicly be invited to repent of their sins,  turning to Christ for cleansing, forgiveness and imparting of a new nature through the miracle of the new birth.  We should then with rejoicing baptize them into the membership of our churches.   Judging an individual's behavior is  not judging that individual's person.  We must hate sin, but love the individual.

However, government is not  church.  It is  the purpose of government  to stop and punish crime, so as to protect good people from bad people.  Nevertheless, even government  officials should  show compassion.   Members  of the Oklahoma Human  Rights  Commission  must  love  the  wrong doer (and society) enough to encourage him to  repent by casting their votes against his self-destructive behavior.
